The Cachagua Island Nature Reserve is a 4.5-hectare island located 100 meters off the coast of Cachagua. The island is home to numerous birds and a resting place for several migratory species. Among the most famous are the Humboldt penguins, which nest in this rocky area. In 1979, it was declared a Nature Reserve and in 1989, a Natural Monument to protect the birds that live there.
